The MDMC Startup Pitch Competition is more than a snack prize of $2,500. It is an opportunity to expose your company to the largest digital marketing ecosystem of the Midwest, consisting of more than 2000+ professionals in the digital marketing world.

How is the MDMC Startup Pitch Competition different from any other grants and conference prizes?

The prize and offering of our program is purely goodwill to promote Midwestern Digital Marketing startups. There are no catches nor strings attached, we only ask that you attend the entirety of the conference.

If I am selected to participate, what will I need to agree to?

We ask that you attend the entirety of the conference (April 17 & 18th), represent your startup in an appropriate manner, and participate in the Startup Panel held on the first day of the conference and Pitch Competition on the 18th.

Who is in charge of the program?

The MDMC Startup Pitch Competition is an external branch of the MDMC, operated and powered by the Entrepreneur Club of the University of Missouri - St. Louis. They are in charge of the planning, the execution, and the collaboration with the main MDMC team.

The panel will take place on April 17th, and the pitch competition will take place on April 18th.

What is the selection process?

After the interviews are conducted, the EC will announce the 5 finalists who will attend and participate at the conference.

Who will be the judges?

The EC@UMSL will work with MDMC and UMSL Accelerate to best define the top choices throughout the two main rounds of judging (i.e. application and interview). The top 5 will then go on to be judged by a diverse panel of 7-9 judges that best represent MDMC, the Midwest, and major influencers in the area.

How will I know if I made it to the next step?

All submissions will receive notification of their outcome.

Are the interviews open to the public?

No, the interviews will not be open to the public. All of the information you share with us will stay confidential.

What criteria will you use to decide which company will advance to the finalist round?

The final rubric will be posted well in advance of the actual Pitch Competition but will be heavily focused on the content of the presentation, product/concept quality, and overall execution of the pitch.
